Late points swing it for Baltinglass

The sides were level on six occasions but Baltinglass clinched victory in the last six minutes with points from John McGrath and Henry Sinnott.

There was a whirlwind start to the game, with Seanie Furlong landing a Kiltegan point after five minutes, Kevin Murphy drilling home a Baltinglass goal a minute later, and Furlong goaling in the seventh minute.

Kiltegan led 1-4 to 1-3 at the break after playing with the wind, but John McGrath had them level for the third time 10 seconds after the restart. Points were traded between Anthony Furlong, Mikey English, Adrian Keogh, Henry Sinnott and it was at the three- quarter stage the sides were level at 1-6 apiece.

John McGrath was the chief marksman for the winners with 0-6 but Furlong did not get much of a supply of ball after scoring 1-1 for Kiltegan in the opening minutes.

Paddy Dalton’s goal after 45 minutes was the turning point for Coolkenno as they marched to the semi-final of the intermediate football championship with a 1-10 to 0-9 victory over Ballymanus on Saturday.
