Just six days after the Waterford minors broke down the barriers of history in Croke Park, the SHC swings back into action tonight with a heavyweight quarter-final between De La Salle and Ballygunner at Walsh Park (5.30pm).

De La Salle set to shoot down Gunners

De La Salle are strong favourites to retain the title for the first time. They breezed through the group stages with four wins from five, where Jake Dillon shone brightest by compiling 5-29.

Fraher Field hosts a tasty triple bill of last eight encounters tomorrow. Mount Sion must overcome their injury woes to shake off Tallow in the opener at 1.30pm. The responsibility rests with minor star Austin Gleeson and Stephen Roche to deliver the scores required for Sion.

At 3pm, dark horses Passsage face 2007 winners Ballyduff Upper. Peter Queally’s Passage managed 10 goals in the group stages with two-time All Star Eoin Kelly accounting for six of those. Their opponents are boosted by All-Ireland medallists Cian Leamy and Michael Kearney.

The closing quarter-final pits Fourmilewater against Abbeyside (6pm throw-in). Both sides are searching for their first county title.

An Rinn and Roanmore contest the relegation play-off in Kill tomorrow at 3pm.
