Monaghan tackle controversy finally hits home for Cavanagh

Sean Cavanagh admits he only recently realised the extent of the reaction to his tackle in Tyrone’s All-Ireland quarter-final win over Tyrone.

Joe Brolly was scathing in his criticism of Cavanagh for bringing down Conor McManus as he was prepared to shoot for goal in the 49th minute. The pundit later apologised to the Tyrone midfielder but Cavanagh now appreciates the potential damage the comments could cause.

“I’m thick-skinned enough and you grow immune to the things written in the papers or said on television because you’ve seen so much of it before over the years.
