Fitzmaurice laments a lost opportunity

Defeated, dejected, demoralised and still Eamonn Fitzmaurice affords himself a wry smile.

His Kingdom outfit had been heavily criticised for the manner in which they shut-down in the second-half of the Munster final, condemned for their lack of killer instinct in the quarter-final clash with Cavan and on the afternoon Kerry deliver, by some distance, their outstanding performance of the summer, they crossed the line well adrift of their Capital opponents.

The irony draws the Kerry boss out of his disheartened state, if only momentarily.
