This quarter-final game in Bruff was all but over by half-time with Tony Considine’s Kilmallock leading 0-9 to 0-2 and well on course to make it four wins from four in defence of their county crown.
Kilmallock set down an early marker with points inside the opening minutes from Limerick inter-county trio Graeme Mulcahy, Paudie O’Brien and Gavin O’Mahony (free).
Knockainey did respond with a fine Mark Clearly point but they were to only score once more in the half.
Kilmallock were 0-4 to 0-1 clear by the end of the first quarter.
Jake Mulcahy, Eoin Ryan and Kevin O’Donnell had all found their way onto the score sheet by half-time as Kilmallock brought a seven-point lead into the interval.
The underdogs needed a lightning start to the second half but once again it was Kilmallock that set the tone and went 0-11 to 0-2 clear.
Eoin Ryan had two points before Brian O’Shea pointed for Knockainey.
That was to be the final score for the south Limerick side that had shocked Adare in their group.
Knockainey needed goals to make a contest of this game but Barry Hennessy remained unchallenged and Kilmallock only needed to keep the scoreboard ticking over to advance.
