Lissycasey settle it late
Francis Hayes got them off to the best of starts by kicking two points in three minutes. Brian Bermingham recorded the Gaels’ first score after eight, before Michael Coughlan equalised in the 12th.
In a low scoring first period, the sides went in level (0-3 apiece) at half-time.
Matt Gilroy and Sean Hayes opened a two-point advantage for Lissycasey early in the second-half, while O’Neill fisted a Shannon Gaels point, the last score of the day for them, in the 36th minute. Niall Kelly added further scores for the winners and close to the finish Matt Gilroy goaled, to put the icing on Lissycasey’s cake.
They can now look forward to a last eight placing, while their opponents are destined to a relegation battle that also includes North Clare neighbours St. Breckan’s and Liscannor.
