Mullahoran shocked

Mullahoran’s defence of the Cavan SFC looks to be on shaky ground after they suffered a 0-11 to 1-11 defeat at Kingspan/Breffni Park to in-form Ramor United.

Senior county star James McEnroe played an influential role in fashioning Ramor’s victory, netting the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute.

Mullahoran relied far too heavily on U21 county star Enda O’Reilly, who hit eight points, and had county ace Killian Brady dismissed for a second yellow card offence.

Kingscourt Stars suffered a 0-13 to 1-9 defeat to Gowna. Kingscourt trailed by 0-8 to 0-12 when Philip Smith goaled from the penalty spot and while Gowna had Niall Madden dismissed for two yellow cards, the Stars weren’t able to claw their way back..

Elsewhere, Crosserlough also caused a surprise when defeating 2009 IFC winners Lavey United by 3-6 to 0-13, with county minor star Pierse Smith helping himself to 2-1 for the winners.

The contest between unfancied pair Denn and Killygarry went to extra-time with the latter eventually winning out by 0-14 to 0-12.

On the same bill, Cuchullains beat Belturbet 0-11 to 1-5, while Drumalee crashed 0-7 to 0-11 to Ballinagh and Castlerahan defeated Redhills 4-18 to 1-14 after extra time.
