Shamrocks and St Loman’s advance
Holders Mullingar Shamrocks cruised to victory over a weak CFCW (Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall) side, 5-13 to 0-12. Shamrocks top Section A on full points. Darragh Daly, Sean Daly, Ciaran Curley and Dylan McDermott (2) grabbed the goals for Shamrocks.
In Section B, St Loman’s got past Coralstown-Kinnegad 2-10 to 0-10, with John Heslin and Shane Dempsey getting the goals in a game where Paul Sharry of St Loman’s and Eamon Fleming of Kinnegad were sent off.
The quarter-final places have yet to be finalised, although Garrycastle took a step in the right direction, easily defeating Killucan 5-17 to 2-6 on Friday, with two goals by Paddy Mulvihill and one each from Dessie Dolan and Matthew Guiheen, along with an own-goal by Francis Boyle.
Tyrrellspass defeated Castledaly 2-13 to 1-10 to move closer to the knockout stages. Dean McNicholas and sub Ciaran Daly scored the Tyrrellspass goals.
The quarter-final slots in Section A remain wide open with surprise team Bunbrosna earning a good draw, 0-10 each, against The Downs.
In the other game in Section A, Athlone defeated Maryland by 0-14 to 0-10.
CFCW and Killucan are now favourites to play off in the relegation match.
