The quest to find a new Cork senior football manager will begin next Tuesday night as the county board convenes again following a summer break.

Conor Counihan stepped down after six years in charge following Saturday evening’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final defeat to Dublin, and the mechanism to find his successor is yet to be put into place.

“We will have to wait for the next board meeting for anything to happen,” Cork PRO Tracey Kennedy said last night. “This only happened on Saturday and there is no process set in stone. The last senior appointment was Jimmy Barry-Murphy and a committee was put in place on that occasion, but that has not always happened.
