Barryroe fend off brave Dripsey’s furious fightback
However, they had a narrow escape in this fourth-round tie when a last minute free from Dripsey’s Diarmuid O’Riordan was narrowly wide of the post.
Barryroe, coached by Justin McCarthy, fell behind after three minutes to a goal from David O’Sullivan, but despite this setback they drew level midway through the half. John O’Donovan looked sharp, scoring three of the six points that brought them level. However, Dripsey raced back into the lead with Diarmuid O’Riordan — whose overall tally was nine points — being joined on the scoresheet by David Buckley.
