McGeeney fires broadside at Kildare critics
“That’s sport,” McGeeney told Kfm. “You just have to keep going. There are people out there who will tear you apart but the thing about it is that… I played with a few of those boys when they were playing and they were cowards then and they are cowards now when they tear these fellas apart. You just have to accept that from people.
“You have good people out there as well who will analyse the game and they will see the sloppiness and you just have to take that on the chin. That’s good analysis of the game and you have to take it and move on. The naysayers and the people who are just there for entertainment you just have to let them get on with it.”
McGeeney refused to be drawn on whether or not he would stay on for a seventh year in 2014 but one man who won’t is Ronan Sweeney who announced his retirement on Twitter.
“Saddens me a great deal to say, after 14 years, yesterday was my last day to chase my dreams in a Kildare jersey. “Thanks for the memories!”
