Jimmy proves big hit in Lanzarote

With almost 900,000 YouTube hits, Rory Gallagher’s Jimmy’s Winning Matches was the soundtrack to Donegal’s All-Ireland success last summer.

But with Monaghan toppling Jim McGuinness’s team 0-13 to 0-7 in Sunday’s Ulster final in Clones, Gallagher, who is the co-owner of the Island Live Music Bar in Lanzarote, was treated to a few catcalls of Jimmy’s Losing Matches by holidaymakers.

“Do you see the comedy gold within the substituting of ‘winning’ with ‘losing’ in the sentence?” Kilcar native Gallagher jovially questioned of his hecklers on facebook yesterday.
