Commercials edge home

Two injury-time points gave Clonmel Commercials a 1-8 to 1-6 victory over great rivals Clonmel Óg in the Tipperary SFC at Monroe on Saturday evening.

Alan Lonergan’s penalty in the first minute gave Commercials the ideal start and they led 1-4 to 0-3 at half-time. Dean Kelleher’s goal early in the second half brought Clonmel Óg right into the game and as full-time approached, the sides were level, 1-6 each.

In injury time, Padraig Loram and Brian O’Hara kicked the points that gave Commercials the bragging rights. Alan Lonergan, Kevin Harney, Donal Lynch, Ian Barnes and Aldo Mattassa were key men for Commercials.
