Dooley turns on the style for Tullamore

Shane Dooley showed just why Emmet McDonnell was quick to call him into the county football squad with a stellar performance for Tullamore in the Offaly SFC last night, helping his club to a 0-16 to 1-7 victory over Walsh Island.

Dooley kicked seven points, six from play, while he was ably assisted in the forward line by former Athlone Town soccer player Kevin Williamson, who contributed 0-5.

The duo’s combination play was far too much for Walsh Island, who lacked pace and incision themselves. Alan Mulhall’s second-half goal reduced the deficit to one, but Tullamore kicked the last five points to secure the win.
