Deflated Horan won’t be drawn on future plans

Maurice Horan, who has one year left on his term, refused to be drawn on his future as Limerick football manager after a second crushing championship defeat inside five weeks.

The Mayo man’s charges finished 18 points adrift of Cork in a Munster quarter-final at the Gaelic Grounds in late May but Saturday’s defeat, against a Longford side without a win in 2013, was possibly even more dispiriting.

“Very disappointing,” he said of the display. “We just didn’t play at all. We just didn’t play with any bite and never got going. We had a couple of chances in the first-half and we could have possibly gone in level at half-time.
