Harte no Friday footy fan as Carlow and Laois make history

The Tyrone manager, whose side face Offaly their first round All-Ireland qualifier tomorrow, is adamant there is no need to move games away from their regular Saturday and Sunday slots. He claims the GAA’s decision to do so with this evening’s meeting of Carlow and Laois is an ignorant one which fails to account for the specific and lengthy preparations that modern teams go through.
“It seems to miss the point that inter-county football in this day and age is not about coming home, throwing your lunch box in the corner and going out and playing a match,” blasted Harte, who said he expects his players to rest all day before matches.
