Meehan a doubt for Tribe’s clash with Tipp

Star forward Michael Meehan is doubtful for Galway’s All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Tipperary at Pearse Stadium.

Meehan a doubt for Tribe’s clash with Tipp

Meehan is troubled by a muscle injury and has only taken a limited part in training in the past few weeks.

Galway manager Alan Mulholland is already without several players as they bid to recover from their 17-point mauling by Mayo in the Connacht championship.

Vice-captain Gareth Bradshaw, who has emigrated, and midfielder Niall Coleman are both suspended having being sent off that day but Coleman is through injury in any event. Defenders Gary Sweeney and Joss Moore are ruled out while a dislocated shoulder to substitute goalkeeper John Egan has seen U21 custodian Tom Healy drafted in.

Galway also have doubts about defender Johnny Duane and corner-forward Danny Cummins in addition to Meehan.

“We are working intensively on all three lads and hopefully they’ll be back, but it will be later in the week before we will know. We will give them every chance,” said Mulholland.
