Glencar/Manor prove too strong for Annaduff
A 13th-minute Niall Brady goal put Glencar/Manor into the lead for the remainder of the game. Two Glencar/Manor county men Gerry Hickey and James Glancy received injuries in this tie that could see them miss the June 23 Connacht semi-final.
Just one point separated Bornacoola (0-11) and Aughawillan (0-10) when the sides clashed in Ballinamore. Led by Gary McCloskey, Bornacoola dominated in the first half, enjoying a 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead.
Aughawillan, who had Michael Quinn sent off in the last quarter, came much more into the game in the second half, outscoring Bornacoola by a point
But Bornacoola pulled through when Mark McCloskey scored the winner from play with nine minutes remaining.
In the rest of the Leitrim first round games, in Carrigallen, Allen Gaels defeated Drumreilly by 2-11 to 0-11 and Mohill overcame Kiltubrid by 2-6 to 0-6; while in Drumshanbo, county champions Melvin Gael beat Carrigallen by 2-5 to 0-8 and in Cloone, St Mary’s got the better of Gortletteragh on a 1-11 to 0-9 scoreline.
