Moran has surgery on eye injury

Luckless Kerry midfielder David Moran has undergone surgery on a serious eye injury sustained in a challenge game against Laois in Killarney on Saturday.

Moran has surgery on eye injury

Moran, who has recovered from two cruciate ligament tears, received special laser treatment at Cork University Hospital yesterday after initial fears that the damage to his eye was career-threatening were assuaged.

It is understood he was struck by a stray elbow after coming on in Saturday’s challenge game, which Kerry won.

It will be at least two weeks before a fuller picture emerges from this latest setback for the Cork-based accountant. But he is out of consideration for Kerry’s opening Munster SFC clash with Tipperary on May 26 and the next round a week later against Waterford, if Kerry progress.

Moran (25) has been nursed back to the full Kerry squad in recent months and would have pushed for National League game time had he not suffered a shoulder injury playing for his club in March. He travelled with the squad on their Algarve training camp and was back in full contact mode with the Kerry squad in recent weeks.
