Kevin Hallissey racked up an impressive 1-3 tally for the winners with Ciarán Sheehan also catching the eye with a strong second half showing in midfield for Éire Óg.
Dara Ring and Daniel Goulding traded frees during a disjointed opening five minutes, in which both sides were guilty of giving the ball away.
The intensity stepped up on the 10 minute mark with Mark Verling striking a fantastic point for Canovee but Éire Óg responded brilliantly through Hallissey who rattled the net after a powerful surge.
That was followed by quick scores from Sheehan and Daniel O’Connor as Éire Óg got into their rhythm. Canovee continued to work hard but struggled to find scores and Éire Óg kept their four-point buffer until half-time, leading 1-6 to 0-5 at the changeover.
Goulding stretched the lead after the restart and from there the sides traded score for score with Éire Óg never looking likely to fall into arrears.
Hallissey nearly wrapped the game up with his second goal midway through the half, only to be denied by Darren Shine in the Canovee goal. Seán O’Connor tried to rally his team late on, striking two fine points but they ran out of time.
