Corkery’s ten-point haul fires Aghabullogue
Most of the damage was done on the approach to half time when Aghabullogue kicked five points without reply. Mayfield battled back to within two but Aghabullogue booked their place in the next round courtesy of three vital frees from Corkery in the final minutes.
Mayfield had to rearrange their team after losing corner back Sean O’Sullivan in the warm up and while they opened the scoring with a Barry Hegarty point they were outplayed for a lot of the half, playing into the wind. Aghabullogue led 0-3 to 0-2 but a blistering five-minute spell coming up to the break resulted in four Corkery points and one from Evan O’Sullivan to give them a 0-8 to 0-2 lead.
