On Saturday in Croke Park, a mere three months after that disaster, the Royals came within a few minutes of turning that result on its head.

It was a rip-roaring contest, both sides throwing caution to the wind as they went on all-out attack from first whistle to last. Monaghan were fastest from the blocks with four points on the board before Meath had even registered (four different scorers too, Conor McManus, Christopher McGuinness, Kieran Hughes and man of the match Eoin Duffy).
