Farney boost pleases O’Rourke

Sometimes in a league it’s good to find yourself a little out of your depth, measuring and improving yourself against better sides.

On other occasions, however, it can be a decided disadvantage. So it was for Monaghan in 2011 and 2012, says current manager Malachy O’Rourke, as the Farneys dropped like a stone from the top flight to Division Three.

Now, with promotion to the second tier already secured, this Division Three title win is a real confidence boost ahead of the Ulster championship.
