Moran return ‘quite a bit away’

Andy Moran’s chances of being fit for Mayo’s Connacht SFC quarter-final against Galway on May 19 appear to be in doubt if James Horan’s latest injury update is any indication.

Moran return ‘quite a bit away’

The Ballaghaderreen clubman ruptured his cruciate ligaments in the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat of Down last summer and has not played football since, despite undergoing surgery in Dublin last September.

“Andy Moran’s quite a bit away yet so he needs to really go away and work hard on what he needs to do because when we get everyone back it’s going to be hard to make that team,” said Horan.

“So, Andy needs to ensure he works and does it away from the lights, which is what he’s doing, so we’ll keep monitoring his progress and see how he progresses.”

Asked if Moran would play club football soon, Horan replied: “No, Andy’s quite a bit off yet. Andy has a lot of rehab still to do so that’s what he needs to do.”
