In front of an attendance of 2,183, Keane’s contribution of 2-9 denied a valiant Déise side who had their own star performer in Patrick Curran.

Waterford started smartly, powered by Patrick Curran’s crisp finishing. After a brisk opening quarter, the home side led by 0-7 to 0-5, with Curran accounting for five of those points. It could have got even better for the Déise but DJ Foran’s close- range effort struck the post.
