Kille’s spot-kick was the game’s most crucial score but Cavan boss Terry Hyland was in no doubt as to the most crucial incident in the game — the dismissal of Damien O’Reilly.
“The sending off probably was the big factor in it when you consider we played 65 minutes with a man short. That was always going to tell.”
Apart from O’Reilly’s dismissal, referee Michael Duffy (Sligo) also had reason to send off Barry Owens (67) and Declan McCluskey (72).
The sides were level on seven occasions in the first-half at the end of which the visitors led by the odd point in 15.
Kille’s spot-kick put his side 1-11 to 0-10 in front but Fermanagh had to work off the backfoot for the remaining seven minutes.
Martin Dunne goaled from the penalty spot (71) for Cavan but 13-man Fermanagh refused to yield and deservedly landed the spoils.
