Intervarsity glory at last for Daly’s Queens

Queens University, Belfast made history on Saturday when winning their first Intervarsities O’Connor Cup at Waterford IT with victory over DCU (4-10 to 1-9).

James Daly’s side showed superb fitness having beaten champions UCC in extra-time just 24 hours earlier.

Daly said: “We’ve trained hard all year and have probably had 45-50 sessions. Aidan O’Rourke has done super work with the girls, there were a lot of tough runs in the rain but it’s all paid off. We knew that we couldn’t ease off at half-time when we were three points up, and had to push on.
