Rebel O’Sullivan sweats on Clonakilty transfer
Ballinascarthy clubman O’Sullivan’s request to move was one of a number included on the list of applications at last week’s county board meeting in Páirc Uí Chaoimh, with the CCC then meeting on Tuesday night to adjudicate on them.
At the meeting, clubs were asked to make known to the CCC any observations which they felt relevant on any transfers, and it is believed that Ballinascarthy held a club meeting over the weekend and forwarded views to the board.
As part of his application, O’Sullivan stated that his address was now John P O’Regan St in Clonakilty, but Ballinascarthy queried this and, rather than making a final judgment on Tuesday night, the CCC has invited O’Sullivan to appear at an oral hearing.
O’Sullivan last played football for Ballinascarthy in April 2012, though his last hurling match was in August 2011.
If a transfer is not granted now, he would be ineligible to play until 96 weeks have passed since each date, meaning that he could play hurling for Clonakilty this year, but would have to wait until next year to play football.
Cork County Board PRO Tracey Kennedy said yesterday, “The case is still under consideration by the CCC.”
