Former inter-county referee John Bannon believes the new black card proposal in Gaelic football will put more emphasis on match officials to improve their performances.

The Irish Examiner columnist has concerns the Football Review Committee’s (FRC) amended recommendation doesn’t simplify the referee’s job as it had set out to do in the original document released last month.

Their new proposal calls for an extra classification of five fouls, which will merit a black card, falling between the current yellow and red cards.
