Offaly manager Ollie Baker believes the new hurling league proposals will boost the standard of hurling among Liam MacCarthy Cup teams.

Although a number of Division 1A managers are angered with the 2014 structure, the Clare native feels counties like Offaly in Division 1B will benefit from the addition of quarter-finals.

“They make sense in terms of putting Division 1B on an equal footing with Division 1B. It’ll increase the competitiveness for more teams in the league, getting the opportunity to play Division 1A teams.
