Haven taking Munster campaign seriously

Castlehaven manager James McCarthy said they’ll be taking their Munster Club campaign very seriously as they aim for a first provincial club title since 1994.

The West Cork club face Limerick champions Dromcollogher-Broadford in Clonakilty tomorrow (2pm) and McCarthy said home advantage is a big help. “Yes, Clon is only back the road a bit and hopefully our lads will have all recovered after two difficult games over the last two weekends.

“Our last Munster campaign was over really before it started in 2003 when an Ghaeltacht beat us down in Killarney.

” But they were very good at the time with the Ó Sé’s and Aodan MacGhearailt and a few more and we ran out of steam in the last 10 minutes. And after two tough weekends in a row, he’ll be hoping the same affliction doesn’t befall his team.

“The Ross game was a tough one and to play a final a week later was energy-sapping as well.

“Seanie Cahalane is touch and go for this weekend and a few more are carrying knocks but we are blessed to have such a strong panel.”
