St Michael’s/Foilmore come good in second-half

St Michael’s/Foilmore 1-09 Waterville 0-06

Both sides struggled in the conditions, with scores at a premium over the hour.

After Eanna O’Connor and Waterville’s Stephen O’Dwyer swapped early points, the home side took command. Points from Stephen and Barry O’Dwyer, along with Seamus and Gearoid O’Sullivan, fired them to a three points interval lead (0-5 to 0-2).

However, Waterville would only score once more — a Gearoid O’Sullivan free in the 55th minute — as the 2009 champions began to find their form.

Two frees from Ronan O’Connor along with points from Johnny Clifford and Bernard Kelly edged them 0-6 to 0-5 ahead by the 47th minute.

All-Ireland medal winner Ronan O’Connor sealed victory when he slammed a loose ball to net in the 50th minute.
