It should have been worse for Gaels because a goal from a 61st minute Mark Bergin 20-metres free took the bleak look off the scoreboard.
Colin Fennelly was the ace in attack for the winners. He scored 1-4 from play, but his creative play also hurt the opposition time and again.
O’Loughlin’s opened up backed by the elements, but they had little to offer up front. Three times the scores were level before Eoin Reid pointed the Shamrocks towards the winning line when he won them the lead in the 20th minute (0-4 to 0-3).
At the break Shamrocks led 0-8 to 0-6, with all but one point of the losers total coming from Mark Bergin frees.
The Shamrocks added four points, two from play, in the early minutes of the new half to get a good grip on things. They really caught hold of the game in the 49th minute when Colin Fennelly booted the ball into the net from close range (1-13 to 0-9).
O’Loughlin’s hit back later for a goal from Danny Loughnane, but it didn’t interrupt Shamrocks’ rhythm. The Ballyhale boys bounced back for quick points from James ‘Cha’ Fitzpatrick and a whopper from nearly 85 metres by Bob Aylward to regain control.
