Munster chief Walsh expects 2013 crowds to pick up

Munster GAA chairman Seán Walsh expects next year’s Munster senior hurling championship to attract bigger crowds than in recent years.

However, he has not ruled out the possibility of staging the two semi-finals as a double header in June 2013.

Over a five-season period from 2006 to 2011, the average Munster SHC attendance has fallen from 36,900 to 23,455 approximately — a drop of 36%.
