Buckley goal gives Kilmurry the impetus
Balllyclough were far too reliant on Colm O’Neill, who kicked 1-7, the goal a bullet. But Kilmurry full-forward James Kelleher was equally dangerous and ended the game with 1-3.
The sides were 0-3 apiece when Kelleher finished to the Ballyclough net to give Kilmurry the impetus and followed it up with a point in the next exchange.
Ballyclough responded with a Sean Smyth point and O’Neill’s goal in the 32nd minute had Ballyclough just a point behind, 1-6 to 1-5, at the break.
Kilmurry exploded out of the traps in the second half, Jonathon Buckley kicking a superb point.
Two goal chances followed, Kelleher though, took too much out of the ball and Barry O’Leary cleared off the line to give Ballyclough a brief reprieve. O’Neill had Ballyclough back within a point when Buckley struck for Kilmurry’s second goal, a thumping shot to the roof of the Ballyclough net.
He dragged Ballyclough back into contention with two superb points but Kelleher and Alan O’Sullivan kicked insurance points to secure victory for the Muskerry club.
