O’Connor blow for Ballintubber

Mayo full-forward and former young player of the year Cillian O’Connor dislocated his shoulder in a league game on Saturday.

The Ballintubber player did the damage against Westport and is now rated as highly unlikely to feature with his club in their championship semi-final meeting with Crossmolina next week.

Ballintubber, the club James Horan managed to a county title before taking over Mayo, are on the verge of three county victories in a row having never previously won a senior crown before 2010. A hat-trick has not been achieved in Mayo since Garrymore completed it from 1974-’76 but O’Connor’s absence would be a massive blow as a Ciaran McDonald-inspired Crossmolina have come into the semi-final under the radar.
