Carroll’s work is much acclaimed

Rob Carroll’s love of gaelic games and statistics led him to create gaelicstats.com.

The website’s homepage carries a five word summation of Carroll’s objective — Understanding The Game Through Knowledge — and to date plenty of teams have secured his services in an attempt to do just that.

Carroll, who holds a Masters in Performance Analysis, has worked with various intercounty sides including Louth, Meath, Dublin and last season was part of Kieran McGeeney’s backroom team at Kildare. And word of his work, which was inspired by the acclaimed American book Moneyball, is spreading.

But it isn’t just the top names who are utilising the services of Carroll and company. “We work with club teams throughout the country. So for example a team in West Cork could record a match and then send us the DVD. We would then analyse it, break it down into a seven or eight page report and then edit down the match to highlight the specifics.”
