In difficult underfoot conditions, a more clinical Bandon led 0-6 to 0-1 at the interval, and after the sides exchanged points early in the second half, Shane Hickey’s goal pushed them eight clear. Central attackers Michael Cahalane and Mark Sugrue were key for the Lilywhites, Cahalane scoring six points, while a concerted defensive effort frustrated Newcestown for long periods, with the losers posting 10 wides.

Newcestown went 26 minutes of the first half without a score after Trevor Horgan answered Cahalane’s 16 second opener.
