Dublin people will have grievances with some of the frees given to John McGrath in yesterday’s All-Ireland minor final.

The Tipperary midfielder scored 1-9 from placed balls and while a lot of them were easy frees given away by Dublin some were of a soft nature.

However, referee Colm Lyons was correct in his decision to give Tipperary their ninth minute penalty. And his decision in the 61st minute to give Paul Winters and Dublin another day out with an equalising free was a hard call on one of Tipp’s best players, centre back Tomás Hamill.
