‘Bubbles’ the hero for Killenaule

Underage star John “Bubbles” O’Dwyer was star of the show as Killenaule shocked hot favourites Moyle Rovers to win their first south SFC title by 0-17 to 1-12 at Kilsheelan.

O’Dwyer scored six points, four in the second half, after Killenaule turned over 0-10 to 0-6 ahead, with Tony and Michael Doyle also prominent for the winners.

As ever, former All Star Declan Browne was the big threat for Rovers whose goal by Paul Shanahan, in injury time, came too late to upset Killenaule.

County SHC champions, Drom-Inch, retained their Cahill Cup, Mid senior hurling title, with a comprehensive 3-24 to 0-7 win over J K Brackens at Holycross.

Seamus Callanan’s goal from a 20 metre free gave his side a 1-14 to 0-14 half time lead. Pat Lupton added two further goals in the 40th and 42nd minutes in Drom-Inch’s romp.
