Simonstown Gaels booked their place in the last eight of the Meath SFC with victory over Walterstown (2-12 to 1-7) yesterday.

A goal and three points between the 20th and 23rd minutes proved decisive as a 1-5 to 0-1 advantage was built up. Andrew Kearney netted the first goal and after leading 1-6 to 1-2 at the break, Simonstown increased their advantage with midfielder Sean Tobin netting their second goal.

Elsewhere, Navan O’Mahonys and Seneschalstown produced a close contest at Pairc Tailteann on Saturday evening before the Navan side made it four wins from as many outings on a 0-11 to 1-6 scoreline. Holders Summerhill went through as group winners with a 1-12 to 0-14 win over Duleek/Bellewstown. Wolfe Tones also finished up as group winners with a 2-13 to 1-14 victory over Dunshaughlin yesterday.
