Dillons spring shock

Brian Dillons 1-14 Mayfield 1-10

Mayfield were attempting to win this championship for the third consecutive year but they came up against a resilient Dillons side.

The champions fell behind early but got back into the game when Dan Lucey converted a penalty following a foul on Terry Lotty,

However, the Tank Field outfit showed their class when they responded 55 seconds later courtesy of a Kevin Coughlan goal.

Having led 1-6 to 1-5 at the interval, Lotty increased Mayfield’s advantage with a superb point three minutes into the restart but their failure to add to that tally in the next 17 minutes came back to haunt them, with Cian McCarthy sealing the game for Dillons with a brace of points.
