Jagoe saves Tracton
With just eight minutes to go, Ballinhassig looked on the verge of victory after Diarmuid O’Sullivan took his tally to 1-4 with a fine point to stretch their lead to five.
But Tracton rallied and outstanding points from Ronan Walsh and Kieran Lynch left just three between the sides before Jagoe popped up with the all-important toe-poke with virtually the last kick of the game.
Both sides missed first-half penalties after Lynch supplied Tracton with a dream start, netting after 40 seconds. But points from Fintan O’Leary and Donncha O’Donovan levelled the sides before O’Sullivan smashed in a terrific goal on 23 minutes, helping Ballinhassig to a 1-4 to 1-2 lead at half time.
O’Leary and O’Sullivan extended the gap with points after the break and despite the efforts of Joe Kingston and Lynch, it was hard to see Tracton overcome the deficit. But they threw caution to the wind and sent all their big players forward. Lynch pumped the ball into the Ballinhassig goalmouth, Jagoe reacted quickest to send the ball to the top corner and level the game.
