Hogan and Donnellan back in for final

Kilkenny and Galway have both made one change from their respective semi-final wins for tomorrow’s All-Ireland SHC final.

Richie Hogan has been favoured by Brian Cody over Cillian Buckley to replace the injured Michael Rice in Kilkenny’s midfield while Cyril Donnellan comes in at the expense of Conor Cooney after being passed fit to start having come off the bench against Cork. James Regan is pushed from the half forward line to Cooney’s inside spot.

Danesfort man Hogan, who was suspended for the semi-final win over Tipperary after a straight red card against Limerick, returns to the team ahead of U21 player Buckley who came on for Rice last month.

The Kilkenny team has 11 of the side that lost to Galway in July’s Leinster final — fit-again Michael Fennelly and JJ Delaney two of the switches.

Twelve of the line-up that beat Tipperary in last year’s All-Ireland final start again. Missing are the injured Rice, the retired Eddie Brennan and Noel Hickey, who is expected to be on the bench.

Galway have 14 of the team that beat Kilkenny to win the Bob O’Keeffe Cup for the first time ever playing, Tony Óg Regan the only difference.

Damien Hayes, Regan and David Collins were on the last Galway team to reach an All-Ireland final in 2005.

The Tipperary minors also make one change from the team that beat Galway in their All-Ireland semi-final with Sean Maher coming in for Kevin Slattery at right half-forward.

Dublin go with the same personnel that beat Clare last month.
