Geezer decision within a week

Kildare chairman John McMahon says he expects a decision on the future of Kieran McGeeney to be made within a week.

Speculation has grown on whether McGeeney will stay on as Lilywhites manager for another term since his charges tamely bowed out of the All-Ireland race at the hands of Cork in the quarter-finals on August 5.

Despite the whopping 2-19 to 0-12 defeat by the Rebels and former Armagh star’s already served five years at the helm, the county board executive and clubs are in favour of McGeeney remaining on.
