Whelan predicts Dubs about to peak

Last year’s All-Ireland-winning coach Mickey Whelan believes Dublin have timed their preparations to peak for the All-Ireland semi-final and final.

The St Vincent’s man, who stepped down from Pat Gilroy’s management team at the end of last season, still keeps contact with the group and attends the odd training session.

He revealed Dublin didn’t put a focus on Leinster last year and with the county not having used the same substitute twice in this year’s provincial competition there is more than a suggestion that once again they have been planning for bigger days ahead.
