Keegan goal hero as Kildare shock Kerry

Kerry 1-12 Kildare 5-17

The Lilywhites led from start to finish, opening up an eight-point advantage within the first five minutes. Keegan scored two of his three goal tally in that period, giving Kieran Fitzgibbon in the Kerry goal no chance with either strike.

Kerry then responded with a goal of their own when a high ball from Shane Nolan was bundled into the net off the hand of Kildare goalkeeper Paddy McKenna.

Four more points from Nolan kept Kerry in touch as they trailed Kildare by four points at the break, 2-7 to 1-6.

Kerry had no response to the forward firepower of Kildare in the second half, despite the sending off of Kildare wing back Shane O’Flynn for a second bookable offence midway through the half. Substitute Mark Delaney scored a superb 1-3 before goals from Keegan and Fiachra Lohan sealed a comprehensive victory.
