The Lilywhites led from start to finish, opening up an eight-point advantage within the first five minutes. Keegan scored two of his three goal tally in that period, giving Kieran Fitzgibbon in the Kerry goal no chance with either strike.
Kerry then responded with a goal of their own when a high ball from Shane Nolan was bundled into the net off the hand of Kildare goalkeeper Paddy McKenna.
