Wexford edge closer to three-in-a row

All-Ireland senior camogie champions Wexford are an hour away from securing a third consecutive championship crown after easing past Offaly on Saturday.

Wexford edge closer to three-in-a row

With Ursula Jacob and Kate Kelly to the fore, the Model County raced 0-6 to 0-1 clear after 12 minutes with Arlene Watkins on target for the Midlanders. But an injury to influential centre-forward Úna Leacy stalled the Wexford momentum and the champions went 17 minutes before Katrina Parrock registered their seventh point. But her side finished in style with Kelly setting up Jacob for a 29th minute goal. An Elaine Dermody free left the margin at eight points (1-7 to 0-2) at the interval.

Michaela Morkan bravely tried to inspire Offaly on the restart but her efforts were in vain against the powerful south eastern girls. Wexford cruised home, with Parrock striking for a brace of goals in the 41st and 47th minutes while sub Fíona Rochford impressed off the bench striking three points.
