Banner’s McDermott steps down

Michéal McDermott has stepped down as Clare football manager after three seasons in charge.

Banner’s McDermott steps down

McDermott informed County Board officials yesterday that he does not want to be considered for a fourth year in charge.

McDermott came into the Clare job at the end of the 2009 season in the middle of a very successful spell managing at club level in the county.

He led Kilmurry-Ibrickane to the 2009 Munster club title, before they were defeated in the All-Ireland club final the following March. He continued that success at club level last season in Limerick, when he guided Monaleen to the county title.
