One less option for Kerry as Kearns rejoins Rathmore

A man being tipped as a contender to replace Jack O’Connor at the helm of Kerry football has returned to management at club level.

One less option for Kerry as Kearns rejoins Rathmore

Liam Kearns rejoined Rathmore ahead of their SFC meeting with Legion next month after confirming their parting was always going to be temporary.

Kearns will train and manage Rathmore for the rest of 2012 and all of 2013. He is considered to be one of the best man managers in the game and will have a strong squad at his disposal with only John Moynihan (long-term injury) and Kerry U21 Donal O’Sullivan (who has emigrated to the US to go to college) missing out.

“We are delighted that Liam is coming back for the rest of this season and is staying on for next season as well,” said club chairman Eoin Casey.

“We hope Liam will give the lads that fillip that will see us move things up a notch, because when we are injury free, we have a very strong squad at our disposal and we feel that we should be doing better. We will be hoping to beat the Legion and advance the quarter-finals of the SFC and take it from there.”
